Mackerel Ceviche


cevicheCeviche is something I always order when I’m out but I have never bothered to make it because it seemed so fancy I figured it was difficult.  Well guess what?  It’s not.  One trip to Yerba Buena made me realize that ceviche is one of the most elegant & easy dishes you can possibly make.  Check out the video below and follow along with the recipe!

SPICY MACKEREL CEVICHE:

  •  1 one-pound mackerel, filleted and chopped into bite size pieces (or any white fish of your preference – should be about 3/4 lbs fish once bones are removed and it’s diced)
  • 1 lime – juiced
  • 1 orange – juiced
  • 1 meyer lemon – juiced
  • 1 1/2 tsp sriracha sauce
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1 serrano pepper – seeded and thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp chopped cilantro
  • 1/4 small red onion – thinly sliced

Combine all the ingredients in a bowl, let stand for 5 minutes and top with crumbled plantain chips for extra crunch!
